He sat in the chair appearing horribly ragged. The skin around his eyes had deep coloration. His eyes were red. Sick did not describe the way he appeared. He slumped against the chair as if every muscle in his body had revolted against him and refused to function. He was vulnerable. I walked towards him intent on punching him until he gave me the key. But my shackles stopped my progress a mere two feet away from him. My capturer just watched me with exhaustion and pain written across every inch of his face. I was going nowhere. I sat back down on the couch. “What happened to you?” “You,” he whispered. “Me?” I didn’t understand. “Your blood.” “My-“ my hand went to my neck. His voice was coarse. “Your blood weakens vampires.
