On the night of the Moon Goddess Festival she goes to the Sacred Moon Temple having taken on the look of the woman who is destined to become Aden's Luna.On seeing her, Aden thinks that destiny has at last responded to his prayers.He takes Valerie as his mate before the whole kingdom.Then Edera, the real Luna, arrives.When she sees a woman standing by her destined mate, with the same face, the same appearance, and in the place which was meant for her, she is horrified. In an attempt to make them believe her, Edera explains what has taken place, but the kingdom turns against her and treats her as a jealous imposter, mocking her before thousands of wolves and ultimately expelling her from the sacred grounds.The Moon Goddess offers no explanation.She doesn't reveal the deception.The full moon instead vanishes behind dark clouds and the sacred Moon Crystal acquires a small crack.Nobody except the High Priestess and Elder Rowan realises that there is seriously something wrong.Feeling broken and entirely on her own, Edera leaves the temple convinced that even the Moon Goddess has given up on her; yet her rejection is only the starting point of a journey which will cause her to find a strength she never knew she had.At the same time Valerie takes up her new role as Luna and is determined to keep the identity she has stolen, she must pay a price because forbidden magic always does.
