Late one night, driving home from work at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Washington, Jess falls witness to a catastrophic motorcycle accident. Because she is a hospitalist nurse, she manages to save the motorcyclist, world-renowned motocross racer Cole Carson’s life. After being in a medically induced coma he has no recollection of the accident or the days leading up to it. Eventually, Cole becomes Jess’s longtime patient but challenges arise when they can’t get along. Cole is unaware of Jess’s lifesaving measures but hints are dropped that she knows more about the night of the accident than what she leads on. Lies, deceit, heartbreak, depression, and the need for more out of life connect the two on a deep soulful level. When Cole ultimately does discover the truth he pushes Jess to be more alive in her life, encouraging her to live the life Cole once had before the accident as he is stuck in a hospital bed watching from afar.
