Abandoned by relatives and often beaten by her stepmother, Jack had a tragic upbringing despite his cute and innocent face. Feeling sorry for him, recent-grad Clara Hall brought him home. On the first night at her house, he forgot his underwear in the shower and ask her to bring it to him. He was afraid of thunders and asked her to stay by her side till he fell asleep. Even when she was doing the dishes, he held on to her and watched. When Clara was feeling overwhelmed by the clinginess, he said with an endearing expression, "Nobody wants me. Do you also dislike me?" Guilt-tripped, Clara acquiesced and let him hold her. Later, Jack and Clara drifted apart.
