Called to the remote town of Hollowbrook to find a missing child, Detective Mara Quill steps into a place where the rain rises toward the sky, church bells ring thirteen times, and the missing-person posters have been wiped clean. A mysterious call, a sheriff who seems to know more than he says, and a name she should not have known all suggest that this is no ordinary case. Before the night is over, Mara will begin to suspect that Hollowbrook has been waiting for her far longer than she realizes.
