Jamie is a runaway at heart, and experience. By 15 years old, she ran away from her wretched home life and lived among the streets. Young and wryly, she thieved, lied, and cheated to get by. However, after years of living amicably alone, she was finally cornered by authorities after a pickpocket gone wrong and sent to a foster agency, where she is adopted by a childless upper middle class couple, searching for a legacy of their own.
7 Years later, she lives with her new family, who takes care of her needs, but in order to pay back her debt, she agrees to an arranged marriage to a well off anesthesiologist. Unhappy with the prospects, she agrees to live alone as a devoted housewife, feeling a debt is due, but still clings to delinquency that became a part of who she was. That’s when, after the unlikeliest circumstance, she meets Anton Ferguson, a stoic handsome man after a unconventional convenience store bump in. After that, whenever she visited the store , he was always there too. And sooner or later as words fall into rhyme, their relationship grows stronger.
The man in grey hoodie and sweats, she would call him. With Shaggy hair spilling over his forehead, and a nasty appetite for black licorice, and a sadness so deep in his eyes that the stillness made to swim in its currents. Little by little, the more they talked, shared, bury, she grew to care for him. Little by little, she wanted to know who he was besides the hoodie he wore and the foods he liked. But little did she know the man she fared with was one of the most rigorous Mafia bosses in all of Albuquerque, New Mexico. And she was his next mission.
