Introduction
It was throughout the late spring of her eighth birthday celebration when Clarice met her two dearest companions,
Whitney and Elise. The three little dears were bound to have a similar destiny —
old maids who might eventually meet their Casanovas in their own special abnormal ways.
On this specific day, they were out on the jungle gym of their rudimentary
school, swinging on the playground equipment. Clarice, who had never truly had any genuine companions
previously, posed this extremely odd inquiry that had been overwhelming her brain for a brief period.
"Companions. What are they for?"
Pretty Elise, with her radiant fair hair and brilliant sky-blue eyes, tolled in
anxiously, "Companions are your teddy bear. He comforts you when you cry. He\'s like your
comfortable cushion or your most loved familiar object. He\'s warm, similar to Mummy and Daddy."
"They\'re your Kleenex tissue," Whitney said, gesturing her dull head. "For cleaning
your runny nose and mournful eyes. You get that when you cry. He\'s like Mummy and
Daddy, all warm and comfortable."
"Is that all?" Clarice asked in wonder, her dull earthy colored eyes enormous.
"There\'s something else! There\'s something else!" Whitney expressed, bouncing in her spot, enthusiastic for her
companions to pay attention to her extremely savvy words, her twisted hair bobbing about. Then she
continued to move and applaud like a monkey. "Companions are generally there with
you, consistently around you, similar to this moment. I\'m blissful. I\'m applauding in light of the fact that I
have my companions with me. Applaud with me, Clarice." She smiled generally at the half-Kiwi,
half-Cambodian young lady. "Applaud with me, Elise." She encouraged them to applaud and hit the dance floor with her.
The confused two cheerfully taken cues from her and started applauding and moving
senseless moves, similar to comedians in a bazaar.
"It\'s obvious, companions make each other seem to be fools, however they actually have some good times," Whitney
said astutely.
"So will you vow to be my teddy bear, my solace pad, my number one
familiar object, and Kleenex tissue, then?" Clarice asked her two companions.
"Sure," Elise said.
"Of course on it," Whitney answered.
"Guarantee?" Clarice needed to ensure they won\'t abandon her.
All things considered, she knew no other person needed to be her companion, since she was so unique.
"Guarantee?" Elise and Whitney said as one.
"We should promise, then, at that point," Clarice recommended.
"Indeed, promise," Whitney said, smiling.
Elise gestured in understanding.
Clarice laced her left pinky with Whitney\'s. On the right side, she weaved
with Elise\'s left, while Elise had her right pinky with Whitney\'s left. Thusly, the three
companions shaped a circle, an interminable solidarity of fellowship.
"We vow to be extraordinary companions. We vow to pick each other up when the other
falls. We vow to be your teddy bear, your most loved familiar object and your Kleenex tissue.
We vow to giggle with you when you chuckle. We are sisters as well as companions. From
presently on, we are one." Then, at that point, they inclined forward until each of the three brows contacted.
"Companions," they generally said as one.
