Gamal and Said are twin brothers, both born in a magical land on the outskirts of Colonia Tovar, the kingdom of Luces Rojas. The only difference between the twins is that Gamal is colorblind. In the kingdom of Luces Rojas, there are fairies, demons, and angels, the latter of whom are charged with protecting the Lady of the Lake, Gamal and Said's mother. Gamal and Said's mother is a water fairy princess from the transparent waters of Luces Rojas, who falls in love with a foreign Arab, Gamal's father. Clara of the Lake belongs to the family of fairy maidens who live in the Lake. But when Clara suddenly dies in a storm while trying to save her mermaid sisters, Gamal leaves the town of Luces Rojas forever, forgetting that magic exists. After leaving the magical town of Luces Rojas at a young age, Gamal El Hindawi, a descendant of Queen La Hada de El Lago, moves to the city of Mérida, Venezuela, where he lives an eclectic adult life, rejecting spiritual life and the world of magic. Professional makeup artist Mia Van Der Woodsen discovers she possesses the magical gift of seeing the future and that she is actually a fairy, a descendant of her Italian grandmother Kallisto Belluci, who came to Colonia Tovar from Ireland. Desperate, after having a premonition, she alerts Gamal to his father's death. The two embark on a journey to Luces Rojas, which will have terrible consequences for Gamal. The only place where his father's life can be restored is the place from which he was banished for treason after renouncing his crown: the kingdom of Luces Rojas.
