Sarawak on the Island of Borneo was a British Crown Colony when I was born. It was a wonderful world, and Kuching was only a small town in the 1950s. Growing up there, I was very much influenced by the local history and culture, which is now an intricate part of my writing. In 1970 I went to school in Beeston, Nottingham, then moved on to the South, to Sussex. This had added a pride in me to share the beauty and colourful part of Borneo to the world, through my stories. It was only during the lockdown, I think in Sep 2021 that I started to write, mostly short stories, so this is my first novel, and I am so happy to be able to share some of the most exciting part of my culture with you,, my readers. Enjoy
Cain, a young man working in the city has a dark and disturbing past that he would like to forget, but now it seems he must dig deep to find out who he really is and why his parents abandon him as a baby. Unlike other orphans who have a normal life, he was brought up in a temple living with monks. He considers his school mates who were rebellious, bullies and perverts, to be the normal people he crave for. Evil, charms and spirits are powerful entities that have suddenly invaded his life, and he finds himself caught in the crossfire of a spiritual war between two great powers, and is forced to take side in order to save his own life and soul. He was told that he was 'The One'- who can save the world they live in. Readers are transported to mystical places on the Island of Borneo. Will Cain find peace, forgiveness, and his true identity? The story pulls readers along this journey with the characters, and as they discover themselves, will you the reader likewise discover yourself?
