Andrea goes to a new town to investigate a set of wolf disappearances that took place a few years ago and find. Meets local painter Jason, who also happens to be a wolf. They first develop a relationship as he helps her ask questions about the lone pharmacist employed by Jason's uncle Joseph for research.
They discover the wolves are all packless Omegas. The kidnappings are strangely connected to the local Blood moon pack and Andrea might have special blood. The blood moons and their aggressive alpha Chuck keep trying to sabotage the efforts of everybody trying to get to the roots of these disappearances including that of a paranormal novelist, Lindsay Jones who suddenly also disappeared a few years ago when the disappearances first start.
Andrea and Jason discover Lindsay's journal/manuscript in her post office locker in town where she locked it for safe keeping, with the help of Jason's best friend Clyde, they unlock the hard drive the manuscripts were locked in and find Lindsay had uncovered some conspiracy involving Dr Max and the Blood Moon pack.
They discover the pharmacist employed by Joseph had a daughter who might have been turned years ago. As well as experiments with wolfsbane and argentum, a substance made to greatly increase a wolf's ability, they discover Dr Max had been recruiting select participants for a "study", and that those participants all happened to be wolfs.
Andrea and Jason begin interviewing the person's of interest in the community who had significant contact with the missing persons, helping them realize they had all gone slightly insane in the days leading up to their disappearance. With this information, they are able to conclude Dr Max had been responsible for turning innocent people "nobody would miss" into omega wolves and experimenting on them.
Unfortunately, Max discovers this and kidnaps Clyde, turning him into an "abomination wolf", his new breed of improved wolves and using him to attack hunt down Jason and Andrea. He succeeds in wounding them both as Jason finally is forced to kill his best friend and hunt down Dr Max. Upon which he realizes the miserable truth.
His Uncle Joseph had been behind everything all along, obsessed with wolves, he had hired the brilliant Dr Max, who was trying to find a cure for the curse for his daughter to enhance a pack of Alpha wolves for his own personal use, promising to fund his search for the cure in return. Jason had been the first success, but Max hadn't been able to replicate a perfect "Sigma" wolf as her termed them, all ending up with Abomination wolves instead. Jason, with this knowledge, is able to unlock his Sigma mode and destroy his uncle, also an abomination wolf before compelling the Betas and Omegas of the Blood Moon pack to destroy Chuck. Dr Max escapes in the carnage.
In the final act, Jason is with a recovering Andrea in the hospital. They find a picture of her sister in the wreckage of Dr Max's lab along with his diary, detailing a mysterious "Epsilon Project" he had been invited to join. They decide to use the information to continue the search for the whereabouts of Alex, setting up a sequel.
