With Rosa being left heartbroken and alone, she tries to pull her life together only to find herself spiralling more back into her old life. Will she be able to resist the dark calling? This is the final book in this series.

My name is Rosetta Crowe, or, as I prefer to be called, Rosa. My life before now was full of twists and turns. I was given the choice to kill or be killed, and since I took the choice to be killed, but not by the hands of the vampire who gave me the choice, I ended up surviving out of fated luck. You see, I was kidnapped, if you will, by a vampire called Lucian, and he gave me the choice to kill his brother Xander or die myself. I took a leap of faith the night I was supposed to have killed him, and I told Xander to kill me. Xander very nearly did if it hadn't been for my VBF, Dorian. Anyway, after a heart-to-heart, Xander and I sorted out our differences, if you will, and we found love. Or, as he said, I was his fated mate. I know a vampire and a human a bit screwed up, and yes, I agree, but here's the other screwed-up part of the story: Xander was to marry a vampire woman called Helena, but she was cheating on him with Lucian. The night I was to kill him was his wedding night to Helena; however, since he didn't die and they ran away together, no one has seen or heard from them. Or that was what I thought. I mean, after all, a happy ever after is for princesses and good guys, and I'm not one of them. I'm the villain in it all, as I am the assassin, and I am now Xander's mistress, only to become his wife if he were to ever turn me into his kind. Set 6 months after the events of The vampire and the assassin, this is the second part of the story of Rosa's crazy life.

"Have you ever thought to yourself, how the hell did you manage to get yourself into this position? I know I do it quite regularly, and this is no exception. I guess I should tell you a bit about myself before I launch into the chaos that is my life and everything else I'm going to end up finding myself doing on my journey to God knows where, doing whatever it is I'm told to do." When Rosa ends up in a situation that is way over her head and her only choice is to kill someone to gain her freedom, she thinks it will be a simple job. Get in, wait until it's time to do her job and then get out and gain her freedom, however she wasn't banking on finding herself a new life. Now she has to decide between her freedom outside or her new life.
