My Sister’s Murderer Is Protecting
Updated at Jul 27, 2026, 18:35
My sister did not kill herself, I know because three years after her death, someone sent me a message telling me the truth. YOUR SISTER DID NOT KILL HERSELF. Then they gave me one name, Riven Ashcroft, the boy who loved my sister. The boy who was the last person seen with her before she died. The boy who lied to the police. Now my parents are sending me to Blackthorn Academy, the same school where Seraphine died. They call it a fresh start. But Blackthorn has been waiting for me. The moment I arrive, everyone knows who I am. The students whisper my sister’s name. Someone carves LIAR into my locker. My dead sister’s necklace appears in my possession with five names hidden inside it. One of them is a murderer, and then Riven tells me to leave, he says Blackthorn is dangerous, he says I need to stay away from him. But every time someone tries to hurt me, Riven is there. And the more I investigate my sister’s death, the more I realize he has been hiding something from me. Because three years ago, I was in the bell tower the night Seraphine died. I just don’t remember being there. Then I found a photograph of myself. The date on it is two years before I was born. And on the back, in my sister’s handwriting, are six words: SHE WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO SURVIVE. Now I have to uncover the truth about my sister’s death before the killer finds me. But the closer I get to the truth, the more terrifying one question becomes: What if Seraphine wasn’t the only person who died that night?
