Hans Christian Andersen (Odense, 2 aprile 1805 – Copenaghen, 4 agosto 1875) è stato uno scrittore e poeta danese, celebre per le sue fiabe. Tra le sue opere più note al pubblico di ogni età vi sono "La principessa sul pisello"(1835), "Mignolina"(1835), "La sirenetta"(1837), "La regina delle nevi"(1844), "Il soldatino di stagno", "Il brutto anatroccolo" e "La piccola fiammiferaia"(1845). Il grande scrittore danese ha attinto certamente, da una parte, alla vasta tradizione popolare del suo Paese ed europea, e dall"altra, alla sua immaginazione creatrice. Traduzione a cura di Maria Pezzè Pascolato (Venezia, 1869 – 22 febbraio 1933), pedagogista, scrittrice e insegnante italiana.
