Nikolas Blackwood and his five younger siblings have been working under their Queen, Katherine's, rule since she plagued them with a virus that stripped away their humanity and morality, making them grotesque creatures she called nightwalkers. Their role in the supernatural community in the town of Rosenberg, is to be Katherine's hit men - her killers. Over the thousand years of life, a few of them have refused, agreed to do other jobs. Not all of them are grateful for the immortal gift. Some see their existence as a burden. Katherine, however, won't ever freely unclasp her hold on the family - being her original successful experiment, she holds them close to her psychopathic heart. Nikolas, as the oldest Blackwood, leads the family and has promised to save them from this serial killer life they've been trapped in forever. However, things go astray when he stumbles upon an unfamiliar creature. An innocent human girl, with a heart as broken as his own. Intrigued and confused by his own attachment to this stranger, Nikolas befriends the girl, Violet Adams from a town hours away. She's in desperate need for answers to her own life's chaotic mess but she has no idea what she's fallen into with Nikolas. Despite every warning from his family, Nikolas allows himself to fall for Violet, being completely aware of how dangerous it is. For when a nightwalker falls in love, it is eternal, never-ending. The love he feels for the human distracts Nickolas from the cause, from the rebellion. While he's busy trying keep his supernatural secret from her and to get Violet to love him back, his family is busy trying to win a war against Katherine and regain ownership of a town their parents built with their own hands.
