Myrcella was badly treated by her abusive stepmother, stepbrother and her stepsister, while her father was not man enough to defend her. In order to forge an alliance with a more successful company, her family arranged for her to be married off to the second son of her father's business associate. She accepted the arranged marriage on the condition that they would foot the treatment bills of her birth mother who was down with cancer. Moreover, it would get her out of this hell hole. Her husband could care less about her because he had a girlfriend who he was still seeing and so continued her misery. Finding out that George was not all the horrible things she thought he was, and realizing that she may have given away a great chance to Myrcella, her step sister plotted different means to end the marriage.
