Sun After Clouds is a story that centered around the brilliant Rolake and her hardworking father, Wole. This story is set in an African clime. Alake, Rolake's mother is a beautiful maiden. She falls in love with Wole and wants to marry him but Gboye, Alake's father refuses. He does not want Wole to marry his daughter. He says Wole is a poor man and can't take good care of Alake. But after much protest from Alake, Gboye allowed Wole to marry her. But he won't give his blessings to the marriage because he is not happy about it. After few months, Alake becomes pregnant. After another nine months she is due for child birth. Wole does not have money to pay her medical bills in the modern maternity. So, he takes her to the affordable traditional midwife's hut. Shortly after delivering the baby whose name turns out to be Rolake, Alake dies. Since no man can train a new born baby alone, the midwife nurses Rolake till she becomes six years old. And Wole registers her in a primary school. This makes many villagers, especially the richest man, Alade to criticises Wole so much. They say he should use the money meant for training Rolake in school to marry another wife, who would please him on cold, weary nights. And bears him the 'important' male children. They say Rolake is an unimportant child because she is a female and would take the glory of her education to another man's house after marriage, or bring an illegal pregnancy shame to Wole's laps. Wole does not bother about these critics. He loves Rolake and wishes to sacrifices anything to train her in school. Later, Rolake wins government scholarships to study in college and university. This really angered Alade and Kunle his son. This father and son have been ridiculing and criticising Wole for training Rolake in school for long. Kunle is not brilliant, though his father is a rich money lender and business man. Kunle becomes an armed robber and a never-do-well who steals and sells his father's properties. He sends hired assassins kill Rolake out of jealousy, but Rolake escapes by a whisker. Kunle is apprehended by police, charged to court and sentenced to life imprisonment. This makes Alade, Kunle's father to become depressed. His much cherished and 'important' son is a convicted criminal and sent to jail, while Rolake becomes a renowned medical doctor, working for the Federal Government of the country. Rolake brings a modern and affordable hospital to her village. All the villagers who have hated sending their female children to schools turned a new leaf. They started sending their female children to schools.
