Eighteen-year-old Miles Haynes Jr. would do anything to avoid both his parents and their divorce. After some encouragement from his ever-supportive best friend (and lifelong crush), Louise, he joins and wins a songwriting contest that gives him a chance to hang out ang write songs with his favorite rock band, Route 66. In LA, he meets and falls in love with Raelene, a small-time musician opening for the band, who happens to be sleeping with Rufus, the band’s lead singer, and Miles' idol. Miles finds himself entangled in a friendship with Rufus, a complicated friendship with Raelene, and a bunch of other things he’s barely ready for.
