The Secret Behind My Grandmother’s Illness ( Chapter 1)
Updated at Aug 29, 2026, 22:44
A True Incident This is not a fictional story .This is a real incident that happened in my family approximately eight years ago.At that time, I used to live with my grandmother. Our house was neither very big nor very small. It was an ordinary home, filled with ordinary happiness. Everyone was living peacefully, and everything seemed perfectly normal.Until one day, everything changed. My grandmother's sister became seriously ill, so my grandmother went to visit her. After spending some time there, she came back home.At first, everything seemed completely fine.None of us knew that something strange was about to enter our lives.A few days later, my grandmother went to the bathroom to take a bath.Suddenly, we heard a very loud sound.Everyone immediately rushed towards the bathroom. My grandmother had fallen down.We quickly helped her up and brought her to her room. But there was something strange that day. When we tried to lift her, she felt unusually heavy. It was difficult to explain, but everyone noticed that something felt different.Still, we didn't think much about it.We assumed she had suffered a serious medical problem. She couldn't get up properly by herself anymore. Some of us thought it might have been a paralysis attack or another serious illness. We decided to call a doctor. At that time, we were looking at everything as a medical problem. But after a few days, something even more frightening happened. One of the toes on her foot slowly started becoming worse. It seemed as if the tissue was deteriorating from inside. We were confused and scared. We thought perhaps she had injured her foot when she fell.So we called the doctor again. After examining her, the doctor told us that the tissue in the toe was dying and that the condition could spread further. He advised that the affected toe should be removed to prevent the problem from spreading. We were terrified. After a lot of thinking and worrying about her health, the family finally agreed to the operation. The toe was removed. For a moment, we thought perhaps everything would get better. But it didn't.After some time, the same thing started happening to another toe.We took her back to the doctor.Again, we were told that the affected part had to be removed. One operation followed another. And instead of stopping, the problem seemed to keep moving forward.Eventually, the doctor told us that the entire leg might have to be removed. Our family refused. How could we agree to something like that when there was no guarantee that it would save her?Everyone was heartbroken. There was sadness in every person's eyes. We were desperately trying to find a way to save her. Then the doctors told us that there was very little hope of saving her. Some relatives even started saying that, because she was suffering so much, perhaps we should somehow end her pain. But how could anyone do that? How could someone give poison to their own mother? How could anyone willingly take the life of someone they loved? My uncle refused completely. He said that we would not give up on her.He said we would take care of her, serve her, and do everything we could to keep her alive. There was still a small hope in everyone's heart. We wanted our grandmother to live.We wanted to save her.But none of us knew what was really happening.Because perhaps the biggest question wasn't—“How can we save her?”The real question was much more frightening…“Was the person lying in front of us truly the grandmother we had always known?”The woman we were calling “Nani”—the woman we were desperately trying to save—was she really our grandmother?Or was there something else behind everything that was happening? We had no answers. We didn't even know what questions we should be asking. We only knew that something about the whole situation felt deeply wrong. And this was only the beginning.Because we had no idea who—or what—we were actually trying to save. To find out what happened next… wait for Chapter 2.
