The Ways of Justice
Updated at Mar 18, 2021, 02:32
This suspenseful story plays out in Germany and Switzerland and begins with what DCS Frank Kruger and his CID team believe to be a simple investigation. Soon, however, it grows in complexity when he comes up against a network of unscrupulous business overlords and a professional killer who is as elusive and clever as the fabled Scarlet Pimpernel. As Kruger begins to unravel the complexities of the case, a web of deceit and deception, secrets and lies emerges, and he is confronted with a conspiracy whose top dog, an attractive, shrewd and egomaniacal woman, will go to any length to become queen of the fashion hill. Revenge is sweet but she isn't. And to stand in her way is toxic. "A finely paced and compelling mystery thriller set against the troubles of traditional publishing during the dawn of digitization." Amazon Stars Rating 4.9/5.0 (17 Reviews) Johannes Prittmann's book publishing business is in trouble. The ageing owner has badly misjudged the force and speed of digitization. However, his still successful firm has a reputation to be proud of – but only because he was able to cover up many problems with shady political and financial deals in the past. And by playing his cards close to his chest. Now, he is dying and has no successor. On no account does he want to sell out to a competitor, nor does he trust his playboy second son, Lukas, to run the business. But he has to move fast. His ceditors are closing in on him. His only option is to swallow his pride and recall his eldest son, Tom, who renounced his heritage many years before and has built a new life as a banking consultant in South Africa. Tom agrees to take a leave of absence to rescue the ailing company. But he is in for some unpleasant surprises. Almost immediately, he finds himself confronted with a nightmare of intrigue, treachery and a conspiracy within his family and, on the outside, with Big Publishing planning to force a takeover. But, for him, he is determined not to go back on his promise to his dying father -- even though his chances of saving the firm are minimal.  "A finely paced and compelling mystery thriller set against the troubles of traditional publishing during the dawn of digitization." The Winner's Curse

This exciting and finely paced political and mystery thriller excels in dry wit. It is a modern love story set in the mountains and lakes of Switzerland and the medieval town of Zurich. The central character, Mark, an anti-hero type and moraliser, loses his job in London as an investment manager under mysterious circumstances. While he and his IT guru friend, Fred, are bent on clearing his name of any wrongdoings, he discovers a scam in progress. By chance, he meets the inscrutable Nathalie who is tied up in an unhappy marriage. He and Nathalie begin an affair seemingly based on mutual convenience, but it soon turns to love. However, their relationship is full of complications as it soon turns out that the mastermind behind the fraud and a political conspiracy is her husband. Mark must face the fact that he, in his exuberance, has bitten off more than he can chew.. Praise for this book: "An amusing, compelling mystery thriller." "Fast-paced, suspenseful and well- written." "A modern romance thriller for our times."    "The characters are fully developed, the story well-researched, and the ending will leave you smiling and stunned."
