***COMPLETED*** *** My other story, The Last Seer, is on hold for the time being. Thanks for your patience and support! :) For updates on my progress as well as other info, check out my blog. ekmichaels16.wixsite.com/ekmichaels-com Synopsis: Ember has always felt like a puzzle piece that never fit anywhere. Phoenix has spent most of his life searching for his missing piece. A lifetime of longing and a past trauma sets her on a journey of self-discovery and ushers her into the world of the guardians. Lifelong questions are answered, destiny is discovered, and her purpose unveiled… So long as she has the courage to enter the domain of The Guardian King. PSA: This is a ROMANCE story with an element of fantasy. NOT a fantasy story with a romance subplot. If you are more interested in fantasy novels, this is probably not the story for you. Excerpt: (His POV) Suddenly, brilliant blue eyes were locked on mine. I had intended to be gone before she awoke. She surprised me when, out of nowhere, she opened her eyes, finding mine watching her from my darkened corner seat, as though my very presence called her out of her slumber. Seconds passed, before I slowly got to my feet. I waited for her to speak, but she did not, so I approached her. As I stood at her bedside, my hands were in my pockets. I wanted her to know she had nothing to fear from me. I know what my subjects say about me; that my gaze is intense and unsettling. However, she seemed unfazed by it. Perhaps this was another sign that she belonged to me. I couldn’t read her mind, yet somehow, I suspected she believed she was dreaming. Good. I didn’t want this to be our first meeting. I should’ve left right then, I knew that, but first… * I withdrew my right hand from my pocket and slowly reached for hers. The instant my fingers linked with hers, the contact of our skin created a gentle hum between us and I breathed a sigh of contentedness. I could no longer deny our connection. There was an energy surging I’d never felt before, and knew I wouldn’t with anyone else on the planet. She looked from my face to our intertwined hands, tilting her head in curiosity. Her abilities were dormant, so I hadn’t expected her to feel the bond that had yet to be fully awakened. But judging by her reaction to me… was it possible? “You feel it too?” I whispered. She slowly nodded. I was unprepared for the intensity of our connection. I jerked my hand away regretting it instantly, as a look of hurt appeared across her face. I exhaled regretfully and put my hand on her cheek. “Rest, mon ange,” I spoke softly. “Our time will come. You have a journey you need to make first.” She closed her eyes in relief, leaning into my hand and soaking up the gentle hum of energy from my touch. “I’ll be seeing you soon.”

The Last Seer
Updated at Feb 12, 2022, 21:11
NOTE: I had planned for this to be my next story. I’ve since decided to put this one on hold until next year. I’ve begun a new story, The Guardian King, which I decided to write first. Thank you for your patience. The legend: The original kings and queens had special abilities. The myth: they are all extinct. The truth: one remains. When old enemies rise up against the kingdom of Amadeus, it’s up to the crown prince, soon to be king, and a group of his closest friends to protect the world they hold dear. Blood will be spilt. Secrets will be uncovered. Sacrifices will be made. No one knows what will happen. No one … except the last seer. **************** Dedication: The first time I ever crocheted, I ended up with a scraggly, uneven scarf, at least two feet longer than intended. It was, in a word, a mess. This is the first story I created. (Not the first I’ve finished.) It is just as much a mess as my scarf. But it’s my mess. To everyone who wanted to do something. but were too afraid to try … this is for you. ~E.K.~
