Shawna's Story
Updated at Sep 7, 2026, 03:08
This is a story about how I remember things that happened to me not sure anyone will like it though Thank you, Shawna sat looking out the bedroom window trying to remember a lot of her childhood. Shawna would rather be outside than inside. She can remember doing a lot of traveling when she was growing up. her and her sister Tanya would sit in the sleeper of daddy Tom's Peterbilt semi truck. That where they would do their school work, color, play a lot of games, and sing songs that Shawna thinks Judy, their mother, and Tom made up driving on the highways and freeways. Shawna can remember being in and out of hospitals up until the age 9 years old that's when ran all kinds of tests on Shawna and found out she has Hypoglycemia, and she was on medication for her seizures for a long time. Judy told Shawna that when she was a baby Shawna almost died 3 different times. Shawna didn't really get to anywhere because of that, she had to be watched just in case she had a seizure, Tanya got to go everywhere. The only problem Tanya had was problems with her ears. Tanya had 3 surgeries on her ears as she was growing up and more as she got older. Shawna would get mad at Tanya because she got to go places, and Shawna couldn't, she didn't really learn how to walk until she was 2 years old. After Daddy died in September of 1984 everyone swore up and down that the trailer we lived in, in Henderson, Nevada was haunted. Because strange things were happening. Like the back door would fly open for no reason, lights would come on for no reason, and daddy's cigarettes would show up by his chair he sat in all the time. Daddy's pizza would show up and no one really liked that pizza but him. Shawna can't remember actually who seen him Judi, her older sister or her mom. That one night after Shawna and Tanya went to bed they said they seen an image that was shadowy watching us. Before this Shawna can remember her mom Judy, Tanya, and her staying with grandma Jo for about a month and a half, there were some good and bad times there. Shawna made friends with a girl that lived right next door, her name was Annie and they went to the same school. One of Shawna's favorite things at grandma Jo's was when it was getting dark where she lived you could go out on the back porch and where she lived you could watch the city of Las Vegas light up. Shawna always thought it was pretty.

Skip and I left David's Skips nephew in Centraillia, Wa Feb 2 1998 Skip drove the class C motorhome and I drove the 1997 Ford F-150 4by4 with a trailer on the back. Driving through Tacoma wasn't that bad Seattle WA and Portland, Or is what scared me. It was bumper to bumper cars and trucks, the first place we stopped at to eat was in Chilliawake, Canada that's where I learned chips were fries and I almost started an international war 😂. I also learned if you put clear vinegar on your fries it changes the flavor it makes them taste really good and kind of sweet too. The reason I almost started an international war is because I didn't know and she kept saying ok a patty and chips and kept saying no I want hamburger and french fries, after about 5 mins of that Skip finally said yes that's what she wants and he ordered after that. The waitress from England. The first campground we stayed at was in Hope me and Skip took pictures of the mountains and walked around for awhile. They have a river there where you watch a dime float all the way to the bottom of the lake. In Canada alot of the people are nice and fast moving too. Each morning we would get up really early to beat the traffic and drove 400 to 500 miles a day every once and awhile we would stop and stretch our legs and get some coffee. When me and Skip stopped in Quense for the night was when I gave up trying to figure out if there wasn't any where Skip didn't know anyone. Skip told me eventually these are the places he usually stops when he drives through Canada. In Quense when Skip and the owner tried to plug in the motorhome there was a power surge, so the owner of the place changed the fuse to the one and gave us the plug in thing so we could have lights. After that Skip and the owner sat out on the picnic table and some beers until it started getting dark outside. It was 21 below but it was warm and it was starting to snow, but it didn't stick though. We drove through 8 snow storms, 4 rain storms at 20 miles an hour. For the night we stayed in Dawson Creek that's where I got my certificate for driving the Alcan Hwy for the first time. After we got the motorhome and the truck parked we went nextdoor to the restaurant/bar and had two steak dinners and Skip jokes around with joked around with the waitress like he always does. On the way to Ft. Nelson we drove through more snow and Shawna seen deer that were big enough to be horses she thought. By then the ground was already covered in snow and black ice but she didn't know what black ice really was or what it looked like. When we stoped in Ft. Nelson for the night we Chinese food for dinner, and then we went to the Elks lodge and some drinks there. Shawna thought some of the people sounded like leprechauns. Shawna started looking around and Skip asked her what she was looking for Shawna whispered, "I looking for the Leprechauns. Shawna thinks one of the guys heard Shawna because he got louder. After that everyone had fun with it for awhile. After a couple hours Shawna and Skip went back to the motorhome for the night.
