She's under the Witness Protection Program. She rarely speaks. She's in foster care. And she knows how to throw hands. Lakota Daniels is an eighteen-year-old girl with a broken past full of abuse and torment. After a year clean of her father's torture and being locked in a basement, she just wants to finish out her senior year like the rest of the teenage society can. The only problem is that since her father is on the run, and a potential threat to her life, Lakota must be placed under the Witness Protection Program. With a different identity and name, she's stationed in a foster home with a pro-FBI family that is supposed to protect her. With her head hung low in the halls, she thinks she'll be able to go through without any attention drawn to her. However that takes a turn for the worst when Grayson Cahill, quiet and stoic hot bad ass, spots her in the police station with her new 'parents.' Now questions arise. Why is he there in the first place? What will happen if he spreads rumors? Will she have to move and change her face again? No. He's silent in the halls too. He observes. He has a casual and powerful demeanor about him. Lakota watches him closely, at least from a distance. But that space she lodges between them is closed on her way home one night from the station. She sees him, or more, she stares in horror at him as his face flesh is pounded into. And she couldn't possibly just walk passed them as if she saw nothing. So she rescues him. But little does she know what she has just done.
