Books have been my passion since childhood. I view this platform and it’s readers as a sounding board, helping me to develop as a writer. That being said, I take writing seriously and tend to weave my reflections and experience with thorough research to create a story. I look forward to all of your comments and feedback. My sole goal is to create pleasurable pass time read for the audience. Let’s go!
Madeleine has always felt that her entire existence was out of sync with the world around her, as if another layer or reality overlapped and occasionally penetrated her perceived reality. She was becoming increasingly anxious thinking about her dreams which threatened to engulf her every waking moment. All of them were surreal yet strangely comfortable and familiar, she felt at ease and belonging in them. The feeling was steadily and increasingly undermining Madeline’s family’s authority in her eyes, questioning their expectations of her and creating a gut wrenching need to break away yet, she could not reasonably justify it neither to herself nor to them. How does one present a “gut feeling” as a reasonable argument!? In reality it was her dreams that gave her only solace: a fantasy world where she was most at ease, accepted and valued for who she was, unconditionally. The world where she was able to shed her insecurities and inhibitions and, to enjoy herself experiencing all the pleasures that she was raised to reject as a “nice girl” from a good family. The world of her dreams was both her escape and her comfort. Unfortunately, such a world existed just in her mind and was not real, or was it? Madeline is about to discover her true strength alongside the boundless love and passion in the world that she was destined to inhabit yet forbidden to even dream about and raised to reject.
My hope is that this ‘coming of age’ novel will inspire many young women to take a good look at themselves and reach deep inside to consider their ambitions, desires and their options; to explore the world outside the constraints and boundaries that were imposed on them by either their geographical situation or cultural mentality that they are being raised under and often, oppressed by. Good luck!
