The ancestors of the Zhang family were descendants of the Zhengyi School of Taoism. By Zhang He's generation, the family had declined. When the apocalypse came, there emerged unknown blood-sucking plants and undead zombies. Relying on the little remaining Taoist talisman magic he had, Zhang He managed to eke out a living among these evil creatures for ten years. In the end, he died a tragic death under the blood vines in the abyss. However, he was reborn and returned to the time ten years ago, before the apocalypse arrived. After being reborn, Zhang He immediately rushed into the utility room and found the only remaining Taoist item in his home—the statue of the Celestial Worthy of Primordial Beginning. Inside the statue was hidden a small walnut, and within the walnut was a secret technique. Zhang He accidentally picked up a cub of a leopard that had been brutally killed. Deciding to take a risk, he applied the secret technique to the little leopard and successfully refined it into a being that was half-beast and half-ghost, naming it Jin Zhanyuan. As Zhang He cultivated, Jin Zhanyuan grew alongside him, gradually developing self-awareness and increasingly strengthening his possessiveness towards Zhang He. In the early part of the novel, it mainly tells the story of Zhang He collecting and preparing supplies, planning how to survive in the apocalypse, including purchasing and making supplies, as well as the upgrade of his portable space. In the later part, it focuses on depicting how Zhang He improves himself through cultivation. At the same time, there is also the relationship line between him and Jin Zhanyuan. In the end, Zhang He and Jin Zhanyuan left the mortal world together.
