you took me for a foolUpdated at Feb 22, 2026, 20:06
A few years ago I was a boy with nothing,no friends,no money,no girl . It was hard. Then something special happened,I met the most beautiful girl at least I thought. I never believed in love at first sight but when I saw her everything changed. Her smile lite up every bone in my body. Her walk was different from any girl I had seen. I approached her because I couldn't handle the urge to speak to her. She was wearing a white dress, she had plaited her hair neatly and she wore some nice sandals so all in all she looked out of this world. When I approached her she was not in the mood to entertain me but I took that as a challenge because I knew that since we go to the same college I would see her again.I barely made college I had to work a lot of small paying jobs to afford it. My mother named me Nkosinathi because I was a blessing from God she said . She was a single parent, looking after me and my two sisters. Working a job that barely put food on the table. I barely made college I had to work alot of small jobs to afford it. I saw how much she was struggling so I decided to also work once I was done with high school so I decided to be working whilst I wait for my results. I worked multiple jobs in order to save money for college and to help my mother financially. I washed cars after that I worked as a waitress at a small local restaurant. At first it was hard because I was just used to waking up and just going to school. I was used to waking up and just going to school. I would come come home feeling tired but within a month I was used to it. Even though I didn't like working those kind of jobs I had no choice but hope came when my high school results were out. I was very excited and nervous at the same time. I was too afraid to open them on my own so I asked my mother to open them for me. At first she acted as if I didn't do well by making a long and I was afraid then she jumped and said " son you made it". I can't explain how happy I was because my biggest wish was to make mother proud and be able to take care of her like she has taken care of me. I had 8 distinctions which was massive. I didn't think I was that good at school so it was a miracle for me and on top of that to see the smile on my mother's face made me happy.I chose to do IT(information and technology) because I loved working with computers and IT had money that enabled me to take care of my mom and sisters. Kelly and Hailey were proud that their brother was going to University. They looked up to me so I had to do good to set a good example. Since we lived in Johannesburg, the only university that would accept me and ensure that I am closer to my family was UJ( university of Johannesburg. I had saved about 9 thousand rands and the fees was 7 thousand so I would only get 2k as extra money. My mother stopped me from working because she said this was my time to shine and working whilst learning could distract me because instead of listening to the lecturer, I would be thinking about how much I would make. I think she was right though I needed to focus no distractions. The end of chapter 1
