Hi everyone! My name is Aubrey, I am originally from a small town in Kansas. I’ve always had big aspirations and knew that the Midwest could not fulfill my desires. I graduated from college with a dual degree in History and Anthropology. I moved to Denver, Colorado at 20 and relished in the big city life. However I quickly became burnt out working 40+ hours a week. That’s when my world came crashing down. My brilliant, spunky, lover-of-life, friend-to-all, beautiful sister Kyleigh died tragically at the age of 10 in a car accident. Less than one month later my best friend, Ernesto, also died in a car accident. It broke me. I feel into deep depression and began to suffer anxiety attacks. I realized I couldn’t go on living life the way I was before she passed. So I packed up my things and moved to Phoenix, Arizona to grieve with my family and put the pieces of my life back together. 6 months after Ky died, my dad and I went to a yoga festival called Bhakti fest. It was truly the first time I felt relief from my grief and a glimmer of hope that there was a path of healing for me. It ignited a passion within and yoga was the foundation on which I built this new life. I attended yoga teacher training and became certified as a 500hr teacher. I took a leap of faith and moved to Guatemala, where I still reside. I teach yoga by day and pursue the arts by night. I paint, I write, I make jewelry. It connects me to the loved ones I’ve lost and I believe it can be a bridge for everyone, because we will all experience grief. I hope you enjoy my stories and find healing if you are searching for it or hope if you are needing it.
