But everything turns down when he was fall deeply in love with Greta, the popular volleyball player and the muse in their class. He spent all his lunch breaks and pocket money to buy her gifts and chocolates, even letters, hoping she would notice him, that no one knows about. He hides his pain and keeps buying gifts for Greta instead of taking care of himself, these days. However, Rome's sacrifices for his love to Greta led to severe complications caused by his ulcer and lack of sleep, which resulted in various physical, emotional, and mental disorders. His frequent absences and missed classes resulted in his removal from the honor roll due to his failed grades, causing great concern among his teachers and classmates, as well as friends and relatives, including his mother and grandmother. As a result, he is no longer the top student of his class, and he was also missed several extracurriculars that were initially offered to him. He becomes a shadow of his former self. His once bright future was now in jeopardy. After being hospitalized due to his worsening condition, Rome's condition became critical, and he knew he had only a few hours left to live. His absence is noticed by his teachers, classmates, and friends. They start to worry about him and visit him at the hospital. Before he passed away, he recorded a video of himself singing "I Do" by Mark Wills, and he dedicated it to Greta along with a heartfelt message, which he sent to his class' group chat, knowing that it would be his last chance to express his love for her. It was his favorite song because it reminds him of his love for her. His classmates are deeply touched by his love for Greta, causing an outpouring of emotions and memories from his classmates. After Rome's death, his classmates found a love letter and a calligraphy that he had written for Greta but never gave to her. The letter expressed his deep love for her and his regrets for not being able to confess it to her before he passed away. As Greta reads the love letter and his artwork, she realizes the depth of Rome's love for her and the sacrifices he made to make her happy. She is filled with remorse for not noticing Rome's love earlier and wishes she could have told him how much she cared for him. "The Last Serenade" is a poignant and heartwarming story about unrequited love, the power of music, and the regrets that come with missed opportunities.
