The Danger Card

An AIDS patient dying on a hospital bed decides to break his silence and tell his story. His audience-health workers and other patients- cannot help wonder at his mischievous childhood adventures, his exploits in the Rhodesian war of liberation to his escapades with prostitutes in independent Zimbabwe. He blames himself squarely for his plight and attributes his fate to the wrong choices he made in life. His stories give rise to discussions on issues sorrounding the transmission, prevention, testing and counselling of STIS especially HIV/AIDS. The tension and suspense mount as some members of his audience realise they took part directly or indirectly in those stories. Tragically, the story ends as all the characters succumb to HIV/AIDS save for two who actually survive to marry... Kandawasvika provides a rare glimpse into the underworld of prostitution with such candour unusual in such matters.
