THE CURSED LORD: RISE OF THE MANA-LESS KING
Updated at Oct 22, 2026, 23:11
Edgard begins the story trapped inside a life controlled by his family. His lack of mana makes him an object of ridicule, while his illness prevents him from competing with his talented elder brother. His engagement is the one relationship he believes is genuine. That illusion ends when he discovers his fiancée's affair with Lucien. Soon afterward, Edgard learns that his mother's mysterious illness was actually connected to a curse created by his stepmother. The curse has passed to him. Rather than helping him, his family removes him from the political center and grants him Blackthorn March. Edgard arrives expecting little but discovers that the territory is almost completely ruined. The first stage of his journey is survival. He must secure food, repair the fortress, protect the villagers, eliminate monsters, and establish basic authority. His first victories are small but meaningful. A successful harvest. A repaired road. A defeated monster pack. A functioning guard force. A growing population. These achievements attract attention. Merchants begin visiting. Refugees arrive. Neighboring nobles become suspicious. Edgard realizes that developing territory requires political intelligence as much as physical strength. Seraphine eventually arrives and becomes involved in his search for a cure. Her knowledge reveals that Edgard's curse is unusually complex. Their investigation leads beneath Blackthorn's ruined fortress, where they discover evidence of an ancient civilization that understood the relationship between mana and the human body differently from modern society. Meanwhile, Lucien begins working against Edgard. He uses political influence to restrict trade, encourages neighboring nobles to pressure Blackthorn, and eventually attempts to provoke a military conflict. Edgard survives each challenge while continuing to develop his territory. His people become loyal not because he is powerful, but because they see him personally investing in their survival. Blackthorn becomes economically important. Then militarily important. Eventually, politically important. The Valerian family can no longer treat Edgard as a discarded son. They now see him as a rival. As the conflict escalates, Edgard uncovers the truth about his mother's curse. His stepmother was not acting alone. Someone much older and more powerful benefited from the curse. The final conflict therefore becomes larger than family revenge. Edgard must decide whether to destroy the people who betrayed him or protect the nation he has spent years building. His final victory comes not simply through strength, but through everything he has built: his people, allies, military, knowledge, and the trust he earned.

Nine Gods, One Grudge
Updated at Sep 26, 2026, 12:26
They poisoned his wine at their own celebration. Roderick Vance spent eleven years protecting two people in Sector 7, the poorest slum on Earth. Evelyn, the woman he was going to marry. Kael, the sworn brother he once carried out of a gang fight with a knife wound in his leg. He worked double shifts so Kael could sleep. He spent two months of wages on Evelyn's perfume. He believed the three of them would get out together. They did get out. He didn't. On the night they promised him freedom, Evelyn smiled and handed him a glass. Kael caught him when his legs gave and held him down while a man in white gloves cut open his chest and drew out his rare Origin Physique, sealing it in a crystal vial. "Origin Physique extracted. No degradation. The Beast Throne thanks you both." Their reward was divine nobility in another universe. His was a discard pit. He woke among the waste with his ribs pried open and a scavenger drone lowering a drill toward his eye, calmly valuing his organs at forty-two credits. Eleven years of loyalty. Forty-two credits. Then his blood touched something buried in the slush. [ORIGIN CORE — AWAKENING] The thing that woke inside Roderick's chest was not a gift. It was a predator. It keeps him breathing, but only while he feeds it divine energy, and every time he uses its power, the countdown to his own collapse moves closer. He cannot rest. He cannot hide. He cannot heal without killing something holy. So he hunts. A scavenger drone. The syndicate boss who brokered the sale, and the divine talisman burning at his throat. The off-world Hunter sent to erase every witness in the sector. Each kill buys Roderick hours. Each one takes something from him he cannot name until it's already gone. Four nights later, he walks into the grand ceremony where Evelyn is being crowned a Saintess candidate in front of nine realms. He tears his murdered mother's stolen pendant out of her hands, carves a permanent scar across Kael's chest, and stares down the avatar of a god that orders him to kneel. He doesn't kneel. He eats the god's pressure instead, and dives through an unstable gate into the Beast Universe. He lands in a death zone under triple gravity, with a bounty on his face and no way home. There he finds Liora, an exiled rebel with a broken chain carved into her armor. A one-handed smith who forges him a blade from dragon bone, Devourer's Tooth, which cuts through anything a god has blessed but feeds on Roderick himself if he gives it nothing else. A city built inside a volcano, where the ash clans kneel in sewage so their betters can pass, and the Beast King's palace glitters on the rim. And nine hundred meters beneath that city, buried under nine centuries of slag, he finds a ruin nobody was ever meant to dig up. A dead realm. A language older than every god's name. And a voice in the dark that says the one thing he is not ready to hear: "You took your time. We have been holding this for you since the sky fell." Because the secret sealed in Roderick's blood was never the physique they stole. It is Variable Zero, a code that can rewrite divine law itself, left behind by the Nameless Ones the Nine Gods betrayed and erased. The gods are not the makers of the universe. They are thieves who took it. And they fear Roderick far more than they fear his revenge. Now a royal decree has condemned every Earth-born soul in the realm to death, a rebellion is asking him to lead a war he never wanted, and his betrayers are climbing toward divinity on power that belongs to him. Evelyn is watching him through seals she plants on the people he trusts. Kael is paying assassins in secret, terrified of a corpse that refuses to stay dead. Roderick will climb nine tiers, break nine realms, and hunt every throne standing between him and the two people who sold him. But the Core in his chest is awake, and it is hungry, and it is starting to want things he did not decide to want. When a terrified boy begs for his life, his hand does not move. When Kael kneels in the street and says please, he hesitates. That hesitation is the last human thing he has left. Nine Gods rule the universes. One of them just made an enemy out of a corpse. And Roderick is learning the truth that terrifies him more than any bounty, any god, or any throne: He is not becoming stronger. He is becoming hungrier.
