He wanted to keep her and take care of her himself but wasn't able to because how the MC was like then wasn't where a female should be. Belle never thought she would open her eyes again after what had happened she did though and she wasn't sure she was happy about that or not. She was damaged from what had happened and was not sure she would ever heal.
