The apocalypse, as was fated to be brought on by the four horsemen, burned the world as we know it to the ground. Having barely survived it, Dante finds a way back, before the four had met. Or, so he thought. Waking up just before Conquest, War and Famine could reunite with Death, he desperately hunts for Death in hopes of averting the doomed fate of humanity. The time-travel having taken a toll on him, he experiences flashes of imagery with uncertain ties to the reality he lives in and loss of certain memories of future events. So much so, that not knowing the identity of the horsemen, but being haunted by his murders for the cause, almost drives Dante insane... or, does it?
