BEYOND NEGOTIATION
Updated at Oct 17, 2024, 05:36
CHAPTER 1As an great supporter and custodian of the culture and tradition of our people,I am poised to face odds with a"spartan -spirit,in this arduous journey of redemption. Though some of our young men have been sneaked up from us by the 'white pests' to be re-educated but I'll remain unperturbed because with the direction and inspiration of the gods, our victory is in sight. There was patriotic frenzy preceding the motivational declaration by the king of umudim kingdom,in his domain. The proliferation of the gospel in the hinterland was relegated to the dust by king who saw it as humiliation in one way and making a marionette of the people's beliefs and norms in the other fought assiduously to protect the people from any form of western education and colonialism. According to him,any form of education that deviated from the culture and tradition of the people must be banished or treated with absolute disdain because it was mundane and lacked every atom of divinity. The white men christened white pests by the king had resolved to pass their message of peace, hope, comfort and everlasting life to whoever would believe and repent of the craze to serve any made by man god instead of the true living God. The difference between the natives and the white men had plunged the kingdom in ferment over the years. At a time, some of the elders and chiefs began to decamp to the European side. This development was noticed at the return of the prominent men of the kingdom who had been on sojourn. This men came back to intensify the struggle for the liberation of their brother's whom they presumed had not seen the light. Men like Kelvin, Kenneth and Vincent had their baptism and changed their names and attached appellations: brother,to their new name; Timothy,Paul and Simon respectively. They were determined to die for their new found faith instead of to watch the king bathe the rest of their brother who were still in the dark with the water of culture and traditions. These new creatures were formally king's faithfuls who fell on the missionary's side and were camped where they were given enough formal education seasoned with good morals. Today, their slogans remains;old things have passed away behold all things are new. They were fortified with the gospel to the point that they led the whites to some of the shrines and they wrecked havoc to as many as they could locate. With the assistance of Simon, Timothy and Paul the message of the missionaries got to the nooks and crannies of the hunter land. it was against that back drop that the king resorted to genocide as the only way he could vent his fury. Reverend smith and Reverend Maxwell drew the attention of the youth with the gifts of clothes and shoes. The novelty of these baits made the youths who were the instruments of destruction and propagation of tradition lay down their bows and arrows. They had to juxtapose the religion of the whites and that of the natives and came up with the assertion that;any religion that spills blood is violent and diabolic and should be exterminated from the surface of the earth. With that assertion, the struggle for the emancipation of the kingdom intensified. To them,it's was war without gun. To the king and his men, it's a blood bath because their gods are thirsty and that thirst must be quenched if there must be peace in the land. What prompted the gathering of the saints was the barbaric killing of the missionaries who fell a snare to the king and his men and refused to compromise their faith against all odds. They king took that calculated risk that bred calamity in the kingdom. His decision and will power were propelled by his bodyguard,Akin whose struggle for the preservation of the culture and traditions of the people was void of mercenary reasons rather to memorialize the person of the king and his kingdom and to have their accolade and memoir for posterity. So where ever the king led, they followed. They watered the tree their so called liberty of the kingdom with the blood of the saints. CHAPTER 2The ferocious king earned people a precarious living after the bloody attack to the missionaries which made the missionaries resolve to be on his trail until the ever vain-glorious king went to exile where it was rumored that he finally became a vagrant and consequently died a happy man. Before his demise,he was able to appease the gods by ensuring that an indelible mark was left on the sands of time. He carved his name on the hearts of the traditionalist instead of on marbles. Before the transition of the king,as he would fondly say,he gathered his son and wife in his sojourn to another kingdom and commented; Reverend Maxwell and his group are white pests, who came to waste Africa and not west Africa. They have their books as glue boards their tongues are sugar coated,The gifts they gave are baits, what will separate us from our gods? The book ?sugar coated tongues?

BEING WISE

You have no doubt heard of the Hare and the Tortoise? Well this is an African fable from Zaire which shows that tortoises are good at winning all over the world. This story is about a trial of strength. Who do you think is stronger, an elephant or a tortoise? As with many of our fables, it is told in the voice of a character. Can you guess what sort of African bird is telling the story? Proofread by Claire Deakin. Read by Natasha. Fable adapted for Storynory by Bertie. I think of myself as the smartest of birds. I never trouble myself with work or danger. I sit shrugging on a tree, or spread my shaggy wings and flap lazily over the African plains. When I see a lion eating its kill, I wait for it to finish, and then hop down and pick the bones clean. Leftovers are easy and tasty meat. So you see, we vultures live off the work of others. Is that not the cleverest way to live? The other day I saw an animal pull off a trick that even impressed a wise old bird like me. He wasn’t much to look at – just a stumpy-legged, sleepy-eyed, wrinkly-mouthed tortoise. He did not exactly seem like a quick thinker, but do not let his slow steps fool you, for his heavy hard shell hides a mind of cunning. He was sleeping in the grass, when an elephant came stomping along with his fat heavy feet. The ground was shaking, but he did not wake up or stir his shell. “Out of my way titch, or I’ll step on you,” called out the elephant. “That’s fair warning,” I thought. “He’d better get out of the way swift-like.” But the tortoise did not budge. Instead he poked his head out of his shell and said, “Do as you like Jumbo, I’m stronger than you are!” “Rubbish! No one is stronger than me!” Trumpeted the bigger of the two beasts – and that’s rather understating their difference in size by the way. “Well I am too sleepy to move, and I don’t care if you tread on me,” replied the little one gamely. “All right then, you asked for it brother,” said the elephant. A moment later he placed his foot and his six tonnes of weight onto the shell of the sluggish one. Even I winced… then I wondered what squashed tortoise would taste like. Not too tender, I thought, but you can’t complain about the menu when you eat for free.Much to surprise of everyone the tortoise was not squashed. His shell could hold up even an elephant. Well that was some roof! “Humph!” Said the elephant. “You’re not strong, you’re just not squishy, that’s different.” “You’re just a bad loser,” said the tortoise with a yawn, before going back to sleep. Well that little episode caused a stir on the African plain. Soon all the animals were gossiping about how the tortoise got the better of the elephant. Little did we realise that there was still better to come. Towards evening, when the sun began to head for bed behind the horizon, the tortoise eased his way down to the river for a sip of water. There on the banks he met a hippopotamus. The hippo smiled when he saw the little fellow and said:, “I heard how you got the better of that fat old lump of an elephant, but don’t be so foolish as to take me on. I am no fool. I would turn you over before I squashed you – so don’t go getting any ideas above your station.” “All the same, I bet I’m stronger than you,” boasted the tortoise. I was listening in to this conversation, and this time, I thought that triumph had gone to the little fellow’s head. He was boasting too much, and his pride would surely lead to his fall. You can’t go around taking on all the biggest and heaviest animals and expect to live for long – or so I thought. The hippopotamus clearly thought the same. He replied, “That’s a bet I’d like to take.” “Well you see that rope left by the boatman after the crocodile invited him for lunch. We will use it for a tug-of-war.” “You’re on,” said the hippo. “What does he think he’s doing?” I wondered. “How can that geriatric shell-dweller possibly win this trial of strength with the tubby river beast?”The hippopotamus picked up one end of the rope, and the tortoise the other. There was plenty of slack in it, and it only seemed natural that the tortoise should take his end up the river bank and over the other side. “Don’t pull until I shout ready,” he called out. Now I saw what he was up to. On the other side of the bank, he met the elephant. “Hey fatso,” said the tortoise. “I’ll give you a chance for a rematch. How about a tug-of-war?” The elephant, who was still steaming from his earlier loss, was only glad too agree. Now the tortoise hid in the hollow, near the top of the bank, and called out, “Ready!” Both the huge lump animals pulled the rope, neither knowing who was on the other end. First the hippo gave way a few steps, and then he pulled the elephant back. Neither could win victory until at last the rope snapped in the middle. The reputation of the tortoise was sealed. All the animals now thought that that the little one was invincible. The rumour went around that he could do witchcraft.

Updated at Oct 12, 2024, 04:51
CHAPTER 1Everyone I know has a scars story to tell.if you start swapping stories within a group of people, each person can tell you how and when they got this scars or that scars. This is a story of a young lady who have been with a man for approximately six years of her life.she was nineteen years old when she met the guy and the guy was twenty years old. so,one could possibly say the grown up together.six years is enough to know if you are embarking on a life journey with someone or not.six years is also good enough to know about someone, understand and give a clear detail about someone's behavior and character. CHAPTER 2This two lovers grew up having to know each other better, creating a strong bond and planning their life journey together. The girl was about writing her (waec) west African examination council when she met the guy, whereas the guy is done with his secondary school education. Then they were very young and blindly in love.wow ,one can actually imagine the promises they gave to each other then. Can I say, love is a beautiful thing when you are with the right person.love encompasses a range of strong and positive emotional and mental states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal affection to the simplest pleasure. However, love is considered to be both positive and negative, with it's virtue representing human kindness, compassion and affection.Looking at this definition,I am clearly sure they can't do without each other. But I can't stop saying that doing a love journey with the wrong person brings heartbreak. Before one could say,"I LOVE YOU" he or she should make sure he understands love and love term. "love is loyal, love is selfless, love is meek, love is patient, love is kind and love isn't jealous. This is the term people has refused to understand. This jealousy in love has broken so many homes and relationship because no one wants to share what they have with their partner with anyone else. CHAPTER 3They both lovers believed in each other, they trusted and prayed to keep bounding. They young lady took her exams (both waec and jamb)to further her education while they guy stayed back, with the trust and they amazing thing they shared.i believe their communication and love life will still continue.A great psychologist Robert Sternberg formulated a triangular theory of love in which love has three components; intimacy, commitment and passion. I believe that they shared all this components to make the relationship strong even with the long distance or let me say far distance relationship LDDRs CHAPTER 4They two lovers kept a very strong communication which helped bond them more.they girl was mass communication, she was so In love with the guy that she couldn't make any male friends in school.Because she felt she can't get what she shared with the guy from someone else i.e none can be like they guy. hmmm, that's a high level of trust and submission. Every holidays or break they young girl will be happy to go and see her boyfriend. They are always happy to see each other. However, during the girls visit the young boy felt the girl was cheating. He decided to track her WhatsApp messages to be able to read and monitor her conversations with people, they two promised each other a forever. CHAPTER 5After the visit the girl the went back to school.months later, she didn't get to see her period.she went to see a doctor for a check after the test she found out she is pregnant. she refused to enclose to her partner, she went ahead to seek solutions with her best friend while they were chatting the friend suggested she terminate it, which she considered and aborted it. Weeks later they boyfriend was going through girls WhatsApp messages and found out they girl terminated a pregnancy. He was very angry because they girl didn't enclose it to him and terminated it without his concept. After that session they girl still travelled back to see the boyfriend.During that period the guy found out he didn't stop talking to her neither did he show a sign that he was aware of it. when she came visiting the guy asked her why she didn't enclose it to him,she gave her reasons which they guy wasn't satisfied with. They both was heartbroken, they guy told her it's over between them with the reason that they girl can kill if she can take such action. They girl tried explaining but the guy didn't accept her back. They two went apart heartbroken. They girl tried to reconnecting with him again but to no avail. They girl cried every night and day .she felt the guy might come back some day but he didn't. Years later, she went to check up on the guy and found out he is married already.she was very heartbroken because she refused getting married to anyone because she felt they guy will come back one day while he never did
