Ein Feuerwehrmann steigt nun auf einer Drehleiter zu ihm hoch, während in der Ferne die Sirenen der Polizei und des Krankenwagens zu hören sind. Aber Franco liest unbekümmert weiter, voller Unglaube. Er hätte nie gedacht, dass er in der Lage sei, einen Roman zu schreiben und er kann es kaum fassen, dass er ihn sogar fertiggeschrieben hat, bevor ihm die Strafe auferlegt wurde. Es hat ihn tatsächlich sehr viel Mühe gekostet, ihn niederzuschreiben. Damit es ihm gelingen würde, war er gezwungen, die unbeschreiblichsten Dinge anzustellen. Infolge eines Arbeitsunfalls ist er gezwungen seine Sommerferien alleine zuhause zu verbringen. Es ist lange her, dass er eine so lange Zeit in kompletter Einsamkeit verbringen musste, er ist es nicht mehr gewohnt. Aus lauter Langeweile durchstöbert er den Keller und stößt dabei auf eine alte Schreibmaschine, er beschließt einen Roman zu schreiben. Es ist die Geschichte von Herrn Carpetti, einem einsamen Menschen, der die Freude am Leben verloren hat und wegen eines nicht existierenden Leidens im Sterben liegt. Als der Arzt ihm offenbart, dass er nur noch wenige Monate zu leben hat, wählt er einen Weg, der ihn grundlegend verändern wird. Er wird eine Person kennen lernen, die ihn in ein unglaubliches Abenteuer führt und ihm hilft, bald wieder an den Wert der Liebe zu glauben. Er glaubt sich todkrank, er meint eine Krankheit zu haben, die sich von Tag zu Tag verschlimmert und an der er bald sterben würde. So rekonstruiert er gedanklich die gleichen Erfahrungen wie Carpetti und bald gelingt es ihm, seine eigenen Schattenseiten zu entdecken und alles, woran er glaubt, in Frage zu stellen... Una macchina per scrivere maledetta.Un uomo seduto sulla ringhiera di un balcone.Il protagonista del suo romanzo.Due vite che intrecciano esperienze simili, due percorsi in bilico tra l’Amore e la Morte. Franco se ne sta comodamente seduto sulla ringhiera del terrazzo di casa sua, al terzo piano del palazzo dove abita. Come se niente fosse, legge le pagine del romanzo che ha appena finito di scrivere per poi lasciarle cadere giù, tra la folla di curiosi che si è radunata a guardarlo. Credendo che sia in procinto di saltare di sotto qualcuno ha chiamato i soccorsi, adesso un Vigile del Fuoco sta salendo con la scala meccanica verso di lui mentre in lontananza si odono le sirene della polizia e dell’autoambulanza. Incurante di tutto questo Franco legge, incredulo. Non credeva di essere capace di scrivere un romanzo, e gli sembra impossibile di essere riuscito a terminarlo prima che arrivi la punizione. Infatti scriverlo gli è costato molto, per riuscirci ha seguito un percorso che lo ha portato a commettere gesti impronunciabili. Sua moglie sta correndo da lui per tentare di salvarlo, infatti parlandoci per telefono ha intuito che Franco ha trovato in cantina la sua macchina per scrivere, quella macchina che si dice sia maledetta. Intanto lui legge e ricorda... Franco è convinto che l’amore sia la forza che fa girare il mondo. A causa di un incidente sul lavoro è costretto a trascorrere le vacanze estive da solo, a casa, in convalescenza. Quando gli consegneranno i risultati delle analisi potrà partire per raggiungere la famiglia in ferie, moglie e due bambini. Dopo tanto tempo si trova a dover passare un lungo periodo in completa solitudine, ma non ci è più abituato e si annoia molto. Quando rovistando in cantina trova una vecchia macchina per scrivere, decide che per trascorrere il tempo scriverà un romanzo. È la storia del signor Carpetti, un uomo solo che avendo perso l’amore per la vita sta morendo di un male inesistente. Quando il dottore gli rivela che ha pochi mesi di vita intraprende un cammino che lo porterà a cambiare profondamente. Durante questo percorso conoscerà una persona che lo trascinerà con sé in un’avventura incredibile e che lo riporterà a credere nei valori dell’amore. Questa persona è Walter, un medico missionario vittima di un intrigo internazionale che ha per oggetto la vendita di farmaci scaduti ai paesi del terzo mondo. È lui che insegnerà a Carpetti l’amore per la vita, per le persone e per le cose. Ma la macchina che Franco sta usando per scrivere questa storia ha qualcosa di strano: si dice che sia appartenuta ad uno scrittore pazzo, un uomo che dopo aver scritto un unico capolavoro si è suicidato, lasciando una lettera accusatoria nei confronti della macchina stessa ove la definisce maledetta. Mentre Carpetti, passando attraverso esperienze di vario genere, compie il proprio cammino verso la salvezza, Franco, per poterlo raccontare al meglio, si immedesima sempre di più in Carpetti. Intanto stabilisce un rapporto molto particolare con la macchina per scrivere, non riconosce come sue alcune pagine del romanzo e pensa che le abbia scritte lei. Pur temendo che questo lo porterà a impazzire definitivamente sente deve scrivere a tutti i costi, questo perché quando si allontana dalla macchina è colto da sensazioni strane, angoscia, dolore fisico. Alcuni malori ricorrenti gli fanno credere di essere gravemente ammalato, di avere una malattia che progredisce di giorno in giorno e che presto lo porterà alla morte. Di conseguenza nella propria mente compie le stesse esperienze di Carpetti in un viaggio a ritroso, arrivando a scoprire la parte oscura di sé ed a mettere in discussione tutto ciò in cui crede. Le due storie si svolgono in parallelo e si sovrappongono, intanto i due personaggi chiave procedono su percorsi inversi. Ad un certo punto però le due storie si intrecciano: entrambi compiono un atto di violenza (o almeno, Franco crede che sia così) sulla stes PUBLISHER: TEKTIME

Leo ist ein Polizeihund, ein Bastard mit der Leidenschaft für die Looney Tunes. Er wollte schon immer Hände haben, um die Fernbedienung des Fernsehers betätigen und den Kühlschrank öffnen zu können. Aber als sein Herrchen Steve in einem Hinterhalt ums Leben kommt, wird sein Wunsch zu einer regelrechten Zwangsvorstellung, weil die Hände das einzige Hilfsmittel sind, mit denen er den Mörder hätte entlarven und bestrafen können. Fortan befindet er sich in einer Spirale voller Abenteuer, in denen er sich die Hände anderer Figuren „borgt“, denen er auf beschwerlichem Weg, der ihn Schritt für Schritt näher an den Mörder und schließlich bis zum letzten Face-to-Face bringen wird, begegnet ist. Leo ist ein untypischer Polizeihund, ein Bastard mit der Leidenschaft für Trickfilme. Schon als Welpe wünschte er sich Hände zu haben, denn er war überzeugt, dass diese seine Existenz vereinfachen und angenehmer machen würden. Sein Leben verläuft ganz ruhig, bis sein Begleiter Steve, ein Agent des Sonderkommandos, in einem Hinterhalt, der von einem korrupten Kollegen in einer verlassenen Lagerhalle angezettelt wurde, getötet wurde. Während des Überfalls verliert Steve das Aufnahmegerät, das er für die Entlarvung mitgenommen hatte. Der Mörder flüchtet und das Aufnahmegerät fällt in einen Spalt im Boden. Leo versteht, dass dieses Objekt sehr wichtig ist, aber es gelingt ihm nicht, dieses wieder rauszuholen, weil er keine Hände hat. Doch der Tierarzt verkauft ihn an ein Laboratorium für Tierversuche, wo sich Leo mit Giotto, einem Schimpansen, anfreundet. Die beiden planen ihre Flucht. Leo kann nun auf die Hände des Schimpansen zählen, um das Aufnahmegerät zurückzuholen. Nach dem waghalsigen Ausbruch, einem feinen Abendessen und einer kleinen „Sauftour“ gehen die beiden zum Tatort, wo auch der Mörder in Begleitung eines Komplizen auftaucht: auch sie suchen das Aufnahmegerät. Der Mörder verletzt Leo und schnappt sich das Aufnahmegerät, doch Leo gelingt es zu entkommen und wird von Italo, einem eher heruntergekommenen Privatdetektiven aufgenommen. Dieser kümmert sich um Leo, der ihn versucht mit Stefania, seiner Nachbarin, zu verkuppeln und mit Barbie Freundschaft zu schließen. Anfänglich ignoriert Barbie ihn, aber als Leo sie vor einem Dobermann rettet, verliebt sie sich in ihn. Inzwischen hat es Leo allerdings mit Puffi, einer äußerst schlauen und boshaften Perserkatze zu tun. Gerade auf dem Höhepunkt eines romantischen Abendessens wurde Italo, und Leo mit Ihm, zu einem Vorstellungsgespräch gerufen. Aber in Wirklichkeit handelt es sich um eine Falle, die der Killer vorbereitet und organisiert hat, indem er die Bremsen von Italos Auto manipuliert hat. Die beiden landen in einer Böschung und Leo erwacht im Krankenhaus, wo er erfährt, dass sein Körper tot ist, und er, weiß Gott wie, in Italos Körper gelandet ist, der gestorben ist. Diese neue Situation erschreckt ihn sehr, doch bald erkennt er die positive Seite daran: jetzt, da er ein Mann ist, kann er Puffi endlich eine Lektion erteilen, aber vor allem wird er nun versuchen, seinen Feind zu entlarven. Aber Menschsein ist keineswegs einfach und Leo trifft auf zahlreiche Probleme, wie beispielsweise die Beziehung zu Stefania, die ihn seltsam findet, oder diejenige zu Barbie, die ihn erkannt hat und wegen Untreue beschuldigt. From then on he will be involved in a spiral of adventures during which he will ”borrow” the hands of other characters met along a tortuous journey that will bring him from time to time closer to the killer, to the finale ”face to face”. Leo is an atypical police dog, a mongrel with a passion for cartoons. Since he was a puppy, he always wished having hands; he believes that these will make his life easier and more enjoyable. His life flows smoothly until his partner Steve, an agent of the Task Force, is killed in an ambush by a corrupt colleague in an abandoned shed. During the ambush, the recorder Steve had brought to unveil the killer falls into a crack in the floor. Leo knows that that object is very important, but he is unable to retrieve it because he has no hands. During Steve's funeral, Leo recognizes the killer and attacks him to kill him. The Commander of the Police Headquarters believes the dog is mad with anger and sorrow, so he sends it to the veterinarian so that he can put him down. The veterinarian, however, instead of doing his duty, sells him to a laboratory where are doing animal experimentations. There, Leo befriends with Giotto, a chimpanzee who loves to paint and knows how to gesture. The two are aware that at the end of the experiments, the laboratory director will ”get rid” of all the tests. So they design and implement the escape. Leo now has the hands of his new friend to retrieve the recorder, though to win his reticence he has to tell him a little lie. After the daring escape, a good dinner and a little ”binge” during which they trust each other, the two go to the crime scene. Soon after they enter the courtyard, however, the killer also comes in the company of an accomplice: they are also looking for the recorder. The killer wounds Leo and retrieves the precious object, Giotto scares frightened. Leo manages to escape and is picked up by Italo, a lousy private investigator; while escaping by car the killer sees them and writes down the license plate number. Italo takes care of Leo, who during the convalescence attempts to blossom the love between him and Stefania, his next door neighbor, and to befriends with Barbie, her dog. Barbie first ignores him, but when Leo saves her from a Dobermann, she falls in love. Meanwhile, Leo has also to deal with Puffi, a very cunning and mischievous Persian cat. Just in the middle of a romantic dinner, a phone call makes Italo go away for a job interview and Leo goes with him. But in reality this is a trap organized by the assassin, who has messed with Italo's car brakes. The two go off a cliff and Leo wakes up at the hospital, where he finds out that his body is dead and that, who knows how, he's in the body of Italo, who has disappeared. This new situation frightens him, but after he has recovered, he immediately finds the positive side: now that he is a man, he can finally give a good lesson to Puffi, and especially he can try to unveil his enemy. But being men is not easy and Leo encounters several issues, such as the relationship with Stefania, who now finds him strange, and that with Barbie, who has recognized him and accuses him of treason. He also has to learn how to talk and wash, dress and go shopping, get money and do all that other men do. Resigned to stay forever in that situation, Leo is pondering on what to do when suddenly the ghost of Italo appears claiming his body. Leo tells him how things are and tells him about the corrupt policeman, the ambush to Steve and all the rest. Italo tells Leo that for a mistake he has ended up in the paradise of dogs in his place and describes PUBLISHER: TEKTIME
