The Men in Mercer StreetUpdated at Sep 26, 2026, 11:40
At nineteen, Nico Caruso wants only two things: money and respect.
Growing up on Mercer Street, he has watched the Carbone crime family control the neighborhood through gambling, construction, protection and fear. When a small betting hustle leaves Nico owing the Carbones three hundred dollars, he is given a choice—pay the debt or work it off.
He chooses to work.
What begins as small collections soon pulls Nico deeper into the Mafia world. Under the guidance of Salvatore Carbone, he learns that real power isn't about carrying a gun. It's about controlling money, businesses, loyalty and people.
Nico rises quickly, but ambition comes with a price. His best friend, Frankie, becomes consumed by fast money and drugs, while rival crews fight for control of Mercer Street. As the old Mafia rules begin to collapse, Nico builds an empire of his own.
For years, he believes he has finally won.
Then the investigation begins.
His businesses disappear, his crew falls apart, his family suffers, and Nico ends up behind bars.
Years later, he returns to a Mercer Street that no longer belongs to the men he once knew.
But the streets remember Nico Caruso.
And when the next generation comes looking for him, he must decide whether to reclaim the life that made him—or finally leave it behind.
