The Love Written Before Time
Updated at Oct 24, 2026, 22:18
Some promises outlive death, some hearts remember what time has tried to forget, and some love stories are never meant to be rewritten. In the year 2022, Seraphina Lucero has always believed that the past should be buried, and with a fascination for her family's forgotten history, she never expected a dusty old diary in the family house to lead her to something that will change her forever. A mysterious encounter, an old diary and a forgotten stone arch leads Seraphina to a time long lost, into the year 1898, a world of ancestral mansions, strict traditions, influential families and forgotten secrets. But Seraphina Lucero has not come here by accident. A mysterious Nun, Sister Beatriz, has given her a task to finish before she leaves this time period, a task that is easy enough to understand. Disguised as Isadora Marquez, the youngest daughter of the town's wealthiest family, she is to stop the engagement between Isadora and Alejandro de Villareal, son of the town's gobernadorcillo. Their marriage has been decided upon by their families and it is thought of as inevitable, but somewhere in the diary's pages is a tragic fate that time has strived to forget. According to Sister Beatriz she is to ensure that the marriage never takes place and Alejandro's heart never belongs to Isadora Marquez, so that history will be rewritten. In her pursuit to return to her time, Seraphina Lucero has vowed to complete her mission, to ruin the betrothal between the rich Marquez daughter and the young gobernadorcillo's son, but unfortunate for her, Alejandro de Villareal is nothing as she expected. Beneath the cold mask, there is actually a kind soul, one that prefers mercy over the wealth that he has inherited. Is a gentleman at heart, a son that prefers to listen to his heart over his father, and a lover that makes Seraphina remember why she was sent here in the first place, all while making it harder for her to complete her task. But Alejandro de Villareal is not the only one that has forgotten. He thinks that he knows the woman who claims to be Isadora Marquez, he even remembers conversations that have never happened! Isadora's picture, one that is given to Seraphina by the very man that is supposed to love Isadora, is of a woman that looks exactly like herself. A note, in Alejandro's handwriting, talks of loving her across lifetimes, but why does Seraphina think that this has always been the case, when she has only just met Alejandro de Villareal? Why is it that the diary, which she reads to discover the fate of Isadora and Alejandro talks of events yet to happen? And why is the date of Alejandro's death, the same day that his arranged marriage to Isadora is supposed to take place? All while searching for answers to these questions, Seraphina Lucero has discovered that her family history is not as it seems, the Arch of San Telmo talks of secrets that even Sister Beatriz was not supposed to know, and the people surrounding Isadora Marquez might actually know more than they have said. The more Seraphina digs, the more she realizes that the mission assigned to her might not be what she has been told, perhaps it is not stopping Isadora and Alejandro from being together that is important, maybe it is something else that has been altered? Something that has been thought of as history, but instead needs to change? The more that she learns, the more she thinks that maybe someone wanted her here, maybe to save a life, or ruin a romance that was never meant to happen. But in her quest for truth, Seraphina Lucero will find that there is another person that remembers the love that time has tried to erase, and she will have to choose between the life she has or the life she wants. The life that Alejandro has or the one she thinks he deserves, because what happens when the heart remembers what the mind does not? What happens when the man that you were sent to stop, makes you remember what it feels like to belong? And what if changing the past means losing the one thing that could make you want to stay? In a world where promises are made long before lovers meet, Seraphina Lucero will have to find the truth behind the doomed engagement before it is too late. Because some love stories are written even when their lovers have yet to meet, some promises outlive death, and some hearts will find each other no matter how much time tries to separate them. If Seraphina Lucero is destined to lose Alejandro de Villareal, will she have the courage to change her fate, or will loving him become her biggest mistake?
