Lies Beneath The Headlines

Life had taken a drastic turn for Sophie Tremblay– again. After all her years of jumping from one job to another, she still couldn't seem to keep any of them. She had once again been fired, why? Because she spoke up and didn't stick up for her manager's perverted ways and also found out about all the money he had been stealing from the firm so he sent her away before she could make a fuss and cause problems for him. For heaven’s sake she believed she had too much potential to be wasted; so she reached out to companies again writing email after email, application after application on why she should be employed and how she could make the company better, fighting for a chance to prove herself. Then came the call that changed her life. The morning a company invited her for a job interview she screamed– literally– after all the pay was very attractive, though her excitement dimmed when she heard what her new job would entail. She wasn't sure if she could do it, but she wasn't dumb enough to turn the offer down either; they had asked her to gather dangerous information on the number one most powerful tech and oil conglomerate in Toronto and it wasn't going to be easy but she was an investigative reporter after all and this was what they do. She takes the job and tackles it head-on until she's face-to-face with the man who broke her heart years ago, the same man she spent years moving on from and then everything crumbles when she realizes that she's up against him and her job threatens his empire and the secrets it holds. The deeper she digs the more she realises: exposing the truth may cost her everything again–including her heart. Ethan Harrington had climbed his way to the top with nothing but blood in his veins and a vision in mind. He was tired of being looked down on, tired of being treated like a disease just for being poor. He wanted something different, he wanted to feel nice for a change, he looked around and realised that if he didn't take the first step he was going to end up just like his father, a dead man so poor he couldn't afford a casket; and the heavens forbid his own story ends up in such a wretched way.
