In a time when women were hardly considered people in their own right, a young woman with no family and little prospect tries to make a new start in a big city. Meanwhile, a growing world crisis threw even able young men into question. A cruel system of acclimating returning soldiers worked to an advantage as the young disaffected soldier was given a second chance to show the beautiful woman that not all men are savage dogs. He may not be able to win her heart but hopefully her favor. Can he protect this woman from a society that does not value her contribution?
