As she lay there, her life slipping away, Selena prayed to the moon goddess, asking for protection and guidance for her child. And in that moment, the moon goddess heard her prayer. Through the trees light from the moon seemed to beam directly onto her. Selena knew the goddess imbued her unborn child with her own strength and power. She knew that the child would be special, destined for greatness, and she smiled a sad smile. Selena died soon after, her body too weak to withstand the injuries she had sustained.
