In a post-apocalyptic world, demon Qélla Darkstar must face the consequences of being discovered by the paladins and returned to Hell where she, her demon friend, and her vampire lady must await trial for treason. Meanwhile, the world must recover from the tragedy Qélla helped avert, a tragedy some demons are desperate to continue, for they revel in nothing less than destruction and the reversal of the paladins' notions of justice.
