CROWN OF THE UNCLAIMEDUpdated at Sep 11, 2026, 14:17
The King of Vantrel is dying, and by ancient law he leaves no chosen heir. Custom does not permit it. Instead, the old rite demands the Trial of the Unclaimed: seven royal bastards, abandoned as infants and raised in mud, poverty, and violence far from the capital, are dragged back to face judgment in the one place built to kill them, the Black Canopy Jungle.
The prize is the obsidian throne. The cost is almost certainly their lives.
Regent Malkokh has already decided the outcome. Forty assassins wait inside the ruins disguised as temple guardians, and only Darius, the Regent's polished, court-raised favorite, is meant to walk out alive.
Saya knows nothing of crowns or court politics. She knows how to stop a wound from bleeding and how to keep a stranger breathing until morning. She never wanted a throne. She barely believes she has a right to one.
But something older than the kingdom itself is watching from deep inside the ruined temple spires, a titan of black glass and gold that has slept through a thousand tyrants, and it is not measuring who fights the best. It is measuring who bleeds for someone else.
As the siblings scatter through poisoned rivers, ambushes, and their own bitter history, alliances form in the unlikeliest places, and even Malkokh's chosen heir starts to wonder whether loyalty to a corrupt crown is worth what it has already cost him. When the trap finally closes at the Great Cataract, the fight that follows will decide far more than who sits on the throne. It will decide who Vantrel actually belongs to.
Crown of the Unclaimed is an epic fantasy of rigged trials, fractured bloodlines, and a mercy strong enough to move a mountain of ancient stone.
