A family death, a secret Agony Aunt and a pair of star-crossed lovers lost to the pages of Doctor Love forever – or are they?
The path to finding out if true love really exists is never a smooth one. Standing graveside at her beloved Aunt Gina’s funeral, Ella Lawson feels shattered. Looking down at the dirt and the shoes on her feet, she’s reminded that it’s the second time she’s worn them to bury someone she loved.
After the funeral, Ella is left to pick up the pieces of her life and get her aunt’s house in order, but what she finds there will change everything. For more than a decade in the nineties, Aunt Gina, a much loved and trusted local GP, had secretly been moonlighting as an anonymous Agony Aunt for magazines and newspapers.
Along with her house and everything in it, Aunt Gina left Ella an entire collection of folders filled with letters from desperate young strangers to the alter ego, ‘Dr Love’. She also left Ella specific instructions to get everything together and provide it to a gallery who intend to showcase the collection in an upcoming exhibit.
With the help of her best friend, Jazz, Ella soon discovers that tucked in the back of one of the folders marked ‘unresolved due to program shutdown’ is a pile of letters that were never answered. The letters were from a pair of star-crossed young lovers who had sought the help of Doctor Love to run away together more than thirty years ago.
As the mystery of the lost lovers unravels, the pair, along with others they’ve collected along the way, deal with secrets, love, friendship and a good dose of self-realisation.
Can they uncover the true story and find out if the star-crossed lovers ever found their way to each other?
