The Secret between my Ruthless Billionaire CEO Boss and I
Updated at Feb 21, 2025, 16:39
Plot OutlineExpositionThe city of New York pulsed with its normal rhythm—loud, unapologetic, and consistent. But there was silence inside Reynolds Enterprises' tall walls. A calculating, icy stillness that revealed much about the man in charge of this empire. Steve Reynolds, a multibillionaire CEO and tycoon, stood by his office's large window, overlooking the expansive city. With the restraint he had spent a lifetime honing, his hands were clenched behind his back, every muscle tight. Never, not even for a second, could he afford to drop his guard. Steve had created his empire from the bottom up, making his name a byword for achievement, authority, and apathy. He appeared to the world to be a guy of unwavering confidence and flawless accuracy. A harsher truth, however, festered inside him; he had concealed it so thoroughly that he had to doubt its veracity. His sexual orientation. His longing for males. His entire existence had been moulded by his secret, which he had concealed for years under a façade of cunning charm and brutality. Steve was startled out of his reverie as the door to his office opened with a gentle, polite knock. His new assistant, Lois Frazer, came with the grace that only a desperate person could summon, and he let out a faint murmur of admiration. Lois, a woman with no discernible credentials other than her strong will and desire to go to any lengths to keep her sister's medical expenditures under control, had been introduced to him in his office on a chilly, overcast day. She was, in short, everything Steve had hated. Nevertheless, there was a certain allure to her, a silent rebellion in her gaze that made him feel more uneasy than he wanted to acknowledge. Lois said, "Mr. Reynolds," with a slight tremble that was nearly undetectable. She already knew how to maintain the ideal professional mask, to remain calm in his presence. She still had that human quality, though. He questioned whether she could see through his smooth surface to the fractures. Steve nodded, gesturing for her to come closer as he slowly turned his head and met her gaze with his piercing blue eyes. "What have you got for me, Lois?" His speech was impersonal and sharp, like ice. No one ever got too close to him. However, Lois was unique. He had no idea why. But for some reason, she was able to reawaken something that he thought had long since died inside of him. With several files in her hands, Lois moved forward. The most recent reports on the new merger project are available here. Additionally, a contract proposal from Charlie Lacey's legal team is included. It's really aggressive. When Charlie Lacey was brought up, Steve's eyes darkened. For far too long, the CEO of Lacey Enterprises had been an unwanted thorn in Steve's side. The type of man who smiled like daggers and used charm like a weapon. During his ascent to the top, Steve had made enemies, but Charlie... Charlie was a different type of opponent. Risky. brutal. Additionally, he appeared to have a remarkable talent for identifying Steve's vulnerabilities. Steve whispered, "Lacey," as though he was tasting the name. His mind was already working out how to stop Charlie's most recent move as his fingers moved over the edge of his desk. As usual, he would make sure to squash him. Steve Reynolds was never threatened without repercussions. However, Lois—Lois was suddenly looking at him with a piercing, critical gaze. He saw the little furrow in her forehead, the barely discernible change in her expression. The way she looked at him. Steve felt a twinge of unease for the first time. Something had caught her eye. What? He was unaware. There it was, though, a nagging sensation in the pit of his stomach. Although Lois had usually avoided him, she was staring at him today as if she could see through his icy exterior. He was frightened by that. "Is there something else, Lois?" Steve's voice, piercing and calculating, broke the tension. Startled by the question, Lois blinked. She gathered herself quickly and moved forward to set the files on his desk. But as she did, she noticed something else: a picture partially concealed beneath a pile of documents. Steve was shown at an unguarded moment in an old photograph. His face had a raw, vulnerable appearance that didn't seem appropriate given his polished, present-day manner. She hesitated, and Steve saw the momentary look of bewilderment in her eyes before she turned back to him. "Everything else appears to be alright, sir. Should I keep working on Lacey's team's report? Lois's curiosity began to chew at her, but her voice was steady now. Steve reclined in his seat, feeling the tension in the room. The fact that Lois had seen something was beyond doubt. Even he couldn't deny her keen sense of perception and her ability to read the room. However, she couldn't be aware of the reality, could she? The real him. "No," he said calmly. "Not just yet. I will take care of Lacey's proposal
