Orabelle is the alpha of her pack-- a female alpha, something that is unheard of. When they are in a meeting with another pack, she finds her mate in the alpha of that pack. That's one of the problems of her life-- she can't accept her mate, for if she does she will have to leave her pack and she can't betray her own pack, who had been her family for twenty years.
