The Self-Portrait of an Abandoned Chinese Woman
Updated at Jan 21, 2025, 22:59
I’m not sure how many readers have come from my Twitter/X account, "Third-Line Writer Princess Ruby," or whether they’ve read my previous works, but it doesn’t really matter. What I hope for here is to have a broader and more genuine space for writing. For a brief introduction, you can check my profile (or follow my X account). I will soon begin serializing my novel The Self-Portrait of Abandoned Chinese Woman. A significant portion of this work is a dramatized version of my autobiography, though of course, there's no need to take it too literally. The story starts from the childhood of a woman, and I’m not sure which stage of life I’ll ultimately reach in the serialization. The large-scale, unrestrained exploration of human nature, sexuality, desire, the body, money, and the spiritual world will continue to be the core themes and approach of my writing. I’ve been preparing this work for several months now. The ultra-short pieces I previously posted on X were more of an experiment and a test for me, and I’m grateful that they’ve been well-received by many. I know that men tend to like my work, especially the authentic depictions, perceptions, and experiences of a woman's self and body, but of course, I won't write just to please men. My intention has always been to voice the real experiences of an independent and free woman. Even if you choose to view it only as erotic literature, I hope you won’t forget the real, specific person and human nature behind every sensitive body. This work will contain long, unfiltered depictions of sex, but I will also incorporate philosophical reflections on the individual and on womanhood. At the same time, I’ll ground the story in specific times and historical contexts. Issues such as the unequal distribution of social resources, the widening gap between the rich and the poor, the impoverishment of the spiritual world, the helplessness of the one-child generation in China, and the PUA (Psychological Manipulation) tactics of morality, family, and age hierarchies will all subtly and realistically affect our bodies, even if they’re not immediately obvious. Over the past 30-plus years, every touch from a man, every pressure from family, and every torment from society will slowly be unveiled in this work. I am eager to share all of these thoughts and experiences with you. Note: My original work was written in Chinese, and the English version you’re reading has been translated by AI and then briefly edited by me. Please forgive any awkward phrasing, as it comes from the limitations of a non-native English speaker’s language skills.
