Jaya Bhargava lives with her parents, grandmother, brotherm and sister in a house passed down for generations. The estate has a botanical garden where Jaya, her grandmother, and sister spend hours tending exquisite orchids that live on air. Often they roam the forest around the estate searching for new species. Jaya wants to attend the university to learn more about fantastic plants. Her grandmother advises Jaya that she must be as strong as a mythical white tiger to be a scholar and a woman in India. Determined and brave, Jaya learns one dark night that she too may be as powerful as a white tiger.
