Crossed by Midnight

Midnight was the kind of woman people underestimated. Some called her a pushover. Others called her a doormat. Truth was, she just had a hard time saying no. She gave too many chances. Forgave too easily. Let people take and take until there was barely anything left of her to hold onto. But everyone has a breaking point. For some, it comes fast. For others, it takes years of swallowed anger, silent tears, and pretending not to notice the damage being done. Midnight’s came later than most. Which was ironic, considering the way she looked. With long black hair falling down her back like spilled ink, emerald-green doe eyes that hid more than they revealed, and a body sinful enough to make even God look twice, she didn’t look weak. If anything, she looked like temptation wrapped in silk and trouble. God definitely broke the mold when He made her. Too bad the world was about to break her right back.
