Kindness Found On The Blue PlanetUpdated at Jul 3, 2024, 02:40
The author recounts their experience of suffering from severe stomach pain and being unable to walk to the hospital. They found a share auto driver who dropped them in front of the hospital, charging 40rs for his genuine service. The author's mother asked him to wait for her money, but he took 20rs instead. The author was moved by his kindness and decided to help others.
The next day, the author and friends planned a trip to Shillong for a short stay. They found a taxi driver who was willing to drive them to their destination at a minimum price. However, the driver had absconded and switched off his phone, leaving them with only 1700rs. They tried to contact the local drivers, but they were unsuccessful.
A group of North Indians residing in Shillong helped them find a cheap hotel. A man named X, who knew the drivers well, negotiated with them and brought the cost down to 2.3k. X then told the driver to take the kids to their place and ask them to pay as much as they could. The driver then took them back to their hostel, safe and sound.
The author wonders why the man did so much for them, as they were practically strangers to him. However, the author believes that humanity is about doing the smallest bit to help people in need. The author hopes to meet the Good Samaritan again.
