Octavia Argent is abducted from New York by Alexander Knight and taken to his realm(a supernatural realm she never knew existed). Alexander is convinced that she is his mate which she finds hard to believe. He tries to explain the mystery of her existence to her but she only wants to go home. He assigns a care taker, Abigail to watch over her. At first she intends to just play along with Abigail to buy herself time to escape. However she finds that Abigail is a true friend and so behind to warm up to her. When Alexander tells her about his plan to introduce her as his mate during a banquet, she finally makes up her mind to escape. On the day of the banquet, she acts warm and relaxed that even Alexander is relieved that she is finally warming up to him.
