Loki was suddenly plunged out of the abyss of darkness as his eyelids parted with fright, his breath was heavy and hot under his nostrils, his chest rising and falling with each breath he took. He looked around the cage he was trapped in, casted with steel bars that stood close to each other, posing as an impenetrable obstacle to his freedom. The scars on his wrists and ankles from the chains regularly bound on them, had reddened and eventually taken on a deep brown shade against his deep tanned skin, the needle marks on his right arm made him look like a drug addict. On a long counter, there were about fifteen microscopes lined up, all except one had specimens under the light of its stage. The constant temperature and humidity of the lab intoxicated and nauseated Loki as he dropped on his knees, struggling for fresh air that didn’t reek of dried or fresh blood from other people.
At a corner of the lab was an eyewash station he had seen the crazy scientist use multiple times during an emergency, next to it was an emergency shower. Loki had been trapped in the laboratory long enough to know about the fire detection and protection system installed in the lab, by his own means, his escape was not only a herculean task, but an impossible one. The last time Loki had seen even a glimpse of the sun had been for months ago, the shutters of the laboratory were always closed and Loki was sure he was running down on vitamin D. More times than he could count, he had yelled out his lungs in search for help, but none ever came, that was no surprise as the laboratory was located in the middle of a dense forest, surely a place anyone normal seldom visited.
The first time he had tried to escape from this hell hole, the crazy scientist had injected a special fluid in his body, which halted his werewolf transformation and turned him back to a human. If Loki could count his needle marks correctly, the number of times his blood had been extracted from his body was up to twelve times, and each time his blood was taken, he was served a buffet of a meal, just so he could get his strength back. Loki\'s shoulder length hair had started to pale and thin, his muscular arms and torso slackened and his eyes that were once bright with adventure and discovery, were only sunken sockets of despair. The circumstances and events that led to Loki’s capture can be termed as a tragic story of love and betrayal, yet it was an intriguing one to tell.
