Écrit de janvier à septembre 1922, "Le Château" est le troisième et ultime roman de Franz Kafka ; resté inachevé, il s’interrompt abruptement dans le dernier chapitre. L'ouvrage est publié en 1926 à titre posthume à l'initiative de Max Brod, ami de l'auteur.RÉSUMÉC'est par une sombre nuit que K. arrive dans un village étrange où l'attitude des habitants l'inquiète. Par ailleurs sa curiosité est attisée par l'existence d'un château inaccessible auquel ils semblent tous rendre des comptes... K.,nommé arpenteur, met tout en oeuvre pour rencontrer Klamm qui appartient au Château. Mais il se heurte aux secrétaires. Ceux-ci font partie du château et constituent le lien avec le village : ils résident à l'auberge des messieurs. K s'allie avec Frieda qui devient sa fiancée après avoir été l'amie de Klamm. Les gens du village (entre autre l'hôtelière) semblent former un rempart entre lui et le château (représenté par Klamm). D'autres paraissent le soutenir comme la famille Barnabé... Ce très grand roman de Frank Kafka nous emporte dans un tourbillon de situations absurdes qui ne sont cependant pas sans nous rappeler certains aspects de nos sociétés modernes...

Paru en 1925, "Le Procès" est un roman posthume de l'écrivain pragois de langue allemande, Franz Kafka.  "Le Procès" relate les mésaventures de Joseph K., arrêté un matin pour des raisons pour le moins obscures afin d'être traduit en justice.Il s’agit d’un roman à vocation ultraréaliste qui plonge le lecteur au cœur d'un procès. La possibilité de s’identifier à Joseph K, un employé de banque modèle et sans problème, est forte. Le fait que son nom de famille commence par la même lettre que l'auteur n'est nullement anodin. Ce personnage sans caractéristique particulière est insaisissable, ressemble à monsieur tout le monde. L'ambiance particulièrement oppressante du procès et le comportement des personnages entourant le « héros » contribuent à le faire plier. C’est au sein d’un découpage du temps en tronçons irréguliers, sous la forme d'étapes obligées, qu’évolue le personnage qui au départ réfute son accusation, mais fera ensuite tout pour obtenir son acquittement, dès le moment où il aura pris conscience de la réalité de son procès."Le Procès" est un roman que l’on peut qualifier d’existentialiste, car même si Sartre ou Camus n’auraient pas pu l’écrire.

Il protagonista, Josef K., è uno stimato uomo d'affari che lavora in banca. All'improvviso, viene arrestato senza sapere l’imputazione. K. scopre così di essere oggetto di un oscuro processo, pensa ad un errore e decide di risolvere lo spiacevole malinteso. Cercando di combattere la macchina processuale, cervellotica e irrazionale, con la logica e pragmatismo K. si trova contro un muro di gomma che rifiuta la logica e pretende di dettare i tempi e la metodologia dello svolgimento del processo. K. non riesce a scoprire il proprio capo di imputazione, ma si trova costretto ad assumere uno stimato avvocato che lo difenda, il quale procede con delle azioni e dei passi che K. non è in grado di comprendere in pieno. L'avvocato lo rassicura sull'impegno profuso per il suo caso e sulla dedizione che riserva alla sua causa, ma K. si trova a vivere nella dimora dell'avvocato delle vicende surreali e decide di licenziarlo. Questa sua rinuncia alla difesa lo conduce alla sua condanna. Infatti Josef K. viene prelevato e portato in una cava, dove viene ucciso con una coltellata per ordine del tribunale. K., prima di morire, pensando alla sua squallida morte, esclama: “Come un cane!”.

Dopo poco tempo, tuttavia, Gregor viene completamente abbandonato a sé stesso, e comincia a star male, a rifiutare il cibo che gli viene offerto fino a giungere ad una morte lenta, causata dalla sua cachessia. La governante e gli affittuari vengono allora cacciati. I genitori si accorgono dello sviluppo fisico della figlia, che, divenuta una bella ragazza, si avvicina all"età del matrimonio. La famiglia infine decide di trasferirsi in una dimora più piccola situata in una zona migliore rispetto alla collocazione dell" abitazione precedente.

THE TRIAL is a novel written by Franz Kafka from 1914 to 1915 and published in 1925. One of his best-known works, it tells the story of a man arrested and prosecuted by a remote, inaccessible authority, with the nature of his crime revealed neither to him nor to the reader. Heavily influenced by Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov, Kafka even went so far as to call Dostoevsky a blood relative. Like Kafka's other novels, The Trial was never completed, although it does include a chapter which brings the story to an end. After Kafka's death in 1924 his friend and literary executor Max Brod edited the text for publication by Verlag Die Schmiede. The original manuscript is held at the Museum of Modern Literature, Marbach am Neckar, Germany. The first English language translation, by Willa and Edwin Muir, was published in 1937. In 1999, the book was listed in Le Monde's 100 Books of the Century and as No. 2 of the Best German Novels of the Twentieth Century.
